27 Jan 2026: We have an important ANNOUNCEMENT regarding class strucure.
With the growing number of students, and various belt levels per training session, we have plans to spilt up Junior and Senior belts into separate classes affective the coming week February.
With the current class format, despite the numbers of instructors we have, we find ourselves juggling between too many belt levels, leading to neglect consistent development of some groups, particularly the Senior belts.
We find it very necessary to change the format to what's shown below to ensure each belt level are provided with fair and sufficient and specialised focused.
This change of format will result in:
- Number of students per class will be at most 20 pax.
- Junior belts Class will have at most only four (4) different belt levels.
- Senior belts Class will have only two (2) belt colour, and at most five (5) kyu/rank.
- Higher teacher-student ratio per class.
- The increase of focus on belt level will apply to all areas; Grading syllabus, tournament Kata, and Kumite.
- Having classes divided by skill level on top of redicdd number of students per class allow for a more scallable model.
- Multiple instructors are able to attend to a single group, allowing instructors to be more aligned with each other regarding teaching method and philosophy, and more teacher-student ratio per class.
- A Combined Class in a week so that Senior belts and Junior belts students aren't always separated.

Q1: I'm a Senior belt student. Do I need to attend the Senior belts Class?
A: Senior belt students must attend the Senior belts Class for syllabus progression. The other second session in the week should be the Combined Class. KarateTTDI training structure is designed for two (2) sessions in a week.
Q2: I'm a Senior belt student. I am attending the Senior belts Class, but I cannot attend the Combined Class. Can I attend the Junior belts Class instead?
A: If a Senior belt cannot attend the Combined Class, they may attend the Junior belts Class instead, however be prepared to to have to self-practice Kata and Kumite waza during the class.
Q3: I'm a Senior belt student, but I am only able to attend one session in a week. Which session should I attend?
Q4: I'm a Senior belt student, but I am only able to attend one session in a week, and I'm not able to attend the Senior belts Class. Which session should I attend?
A: KarateTTDI training structure is designed for two (2) sessions in a week. However, if a senior is able to only attend once a week, ideally, the Senior belt students must attend the Senior belts Session for syllabus progression.
However, if the Senior belt student is unable to attend the Senior belts Class, the next nest option is the Combined Class. Be aware that this is not recommended and syllabus progression will be at a disadvantage.
If the only session the Senior belt student is able to attend is the Junior belts Class, be aware that more emphasis will be placed on Junior belt students. Also, students who train only once a week—especially at higher belt levels where the syllabus becomes more extensive—may experience slower progress that can appear stagnant. This can lead to demotivation, particularly among children, when they compare themselves with peers who are progressing very quickly including towards a competitive level as a result of training twice or more per week.
Q5: I am a Junior belt student. I'm attending the Combined Class, but I am not able to attend the Junior belts Class. Can I attend the Senior belts Class?
Q6: I am a Junior belt student. I'm attending the Junior belts Class, but I am not able attend the Combined Class. Can I attend the Senior belts Class?
A: Junior belt students who is unable to attend either one of the Junior belts Class or Combined Class or both, may attend the Senior belts Class if you meet the requirements* below. Junior belts who wish to attend the Senior belts Class as an additional (third) session in a week must meet the requirements*.
Bear in mind that the training regiment the Senior belts Class will accomodate to the Senior belt syllabus. Junior belt students who wish to attend the Senior belts Class, please be expected to have to self-practice Kata at some point during the class.
Q7: I am a Junior belt student. I am only able attend once a week.
A: KarateTTDI training structure is designed for two (2) sessions in a week. However, if the a Junior belt student is only able attend once session a week, the Junior belts Class is the most ideal. If the Junior belt student is unable to attend the Junior belts Class, the next next best option is the Combined Class. If the Junior belt student can only attend the Senior belts Class, you must meet the requirements*.
The difference in development and progress between training once a week and twice a week is significant. Students who train only once a week—especially at higher belt levels where the syllabus becomes more extensive—may experience slower progress that can appear stagnant. This can lead to demotivation, particularly among children, when they compare themselves with peers who are progressing very quickly including towards a competitive level as a result of training twice or more per week.
*Requirements for Junior belt students to attend Senior belts Class.
- 13 years old and above: 9 kyu and above (any belt)
- Below 13 years old: 7 & 6 kyu (green & blue belt)
These requirements are designed to ensure that the Junior belt students who attend the Senior belts Class can keep up to senior belts regimes or self-practice.
