I recently participated in the Veteran Categories of the 23rd Milo Open Karate Championship for both Kata and Kumite (sparring) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysa. For this championship, the Veteran Categories is for ages 35 years old and above. The official age for Veteran Cateogries in Kata in WKF is 45 years old and above
Milo Open Karate Championship is an international event, and it was announced in the opening cermony that it held the the Malaysian record of most participants in a single sporting event the year before with over 1,000 participants. This year there were over 2,000 participants.
Representing the Malaysian Association of Shito-ryu Karate-do (M.A.S.K.) as Team Manager and Athlete, to my luck, I landed in the finals for both Kata and Kumite Veteran Categories. Proud to say my oponent in the Kata Finals is a felow team mate and peer from the very same team (M.A.S.K.), whereas my opponent in the Kumite Finals is the current National Coach and former National Team Elite squad. I achieved first (1st) place for Kata and second (2nd) place for Kumite.
Below are video recordings of all my bouts.
